What is Mind Body Medicine?  

Mind Body Medicine is the simple understanding that everything people experience in their minds affects their bodies, and everything people experience in their bodies affects their minds. 

What are Mind Body Medicine Skills? 

Mind Body Medicine skills are specific techniques used to bring one's body and mind into a soothing place of wellness.  For example, you'll learn and experience how diaphragmic breathing affects your physiology while gaining an understanding about how it impacts your health.  The Mind Body Medicine model applied in these classes allows for the convergence of science and intuition revealing each person's unique and inherent ability to embrace health and wellness.  

What is a Circle? 

A circle represents the group aspect of this process.  Although one can immediately feel positive effects of Mind Body Medicine skills when practicing alone; using a small group process makes the experience EXTRAORDINARY.  In each session we begin and end with a brief meditation, practice a Mind Body Medicine skill, and then discuss it as a group.  The group setting provides the opportunity to connect to a social aspect greater than ourselves while creating a shared experience that contributes meaning to learning and discovery. 

Granola Optional--Science Required

Once considered "alternative" or "complimentary" medicine, research indicates that Mind Body Medicine skills have a direct impact on our overall health and well being. Research is the basis for the model used in these courses that have been adapted from The Center for Mind Body Medicine.  Participants in Mind Body Medicine skills groups have reported decreased worry as well as decreased physical and emotional symptoms of stress.
